Announcing: Bright Coconut

Announcing: Bright Coconut

As I worked with a number of web clients, I began to realize a few things about the way they (and I) were approaching the design process, including what made a big difference in people’s success levels with their new sites (and, of course, what didn’t). I wanted to rectify those pitfalls, make it better/cheaper/faster/easier for folks, and do it in a way that really played to my strengths, and the strengths of WordPress (my platform of choice). Hence, Bright Coconut was born.

The Pursuit of (What Else?) Happiness

In case you haven’t seen it yet, my buddy Alex Shalman, from AlexShalman.com (Practical Personal Development), recently launched his "Happiness Project." After hearing Tim Ferriss recommend Dan Gilbert’s book, "Stumbling On Happiness" (which I read, and whose TED video I’ve set up for you at the bottom of this post), I’m very, very curious about [...]

Have You Noticed Your 'Intention Chickens' Coming Home To Roost?

Quick update: The response to the last post has been wonderful; the comments left have been broad-spectrum and a joy to read, and I even got a few responses via email, both with suggestions and sympathy.
The good news is, the question in question is resolving nicely. I shouldn’t be surprised, of course, because [...]

Have You Got A Double-Edged Sword Hanging Over Your Head?

Expertise is an interesting animal. It gives you a perspective that’s both beyond the average Joe, and more handicapping than duct-taping your hands over your eyes…

100th Post :: The No-Complaint Project (And a Contest!)

This is the 100th post at Monk at Work — woo hoo! I’m doing a contest for it… it’s unrelated to the main content of the post, though… details are at the bottom. It’s big, so don’t miss it.

At the risk of sounding like a Tim Ferriss groupie, I read a post of his recently [...]

What Do You Do In A Crisis Of Confidence?

Ever have one of those times where life’s events lead you to question the course you’re on?
(Of course, we could philosophize that you think you’re on one course, but life has you on another, and you’re just figuring this out as you go…)
But what I really want to get to is this idea of a [...]

What’s Your Learning Edge?

I’m always learning something — right now, I’ve got a stack of four books from the library on my desk, and two more in the living room, plus all the ChangeThis manifestos I still need to read, and the myriad of blogs in my Google Reader that are patiently awaiting my attention.

In fact, one of the aspects of the blogosphere that makes it really easy for me to spend way too much surfing is the amount of wonderful information and personal perspectives that are out there. New learnings are just a click away.
